A CALM START AT THE MUSEUM – A SEND FRIENDLY SESSION, DERBY MUSEUM OF MAKING

During October Half-Term Derby Museum of Making are running another designated ‘quiet’ start to the day, created for children and young people who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This includes neurodivergent individuals (with or without a diagnosis) and those who may benefit from a lower-stimulation environment, and their families.

This inclusive, sensory-considerate session will include:

• Reduced visitor numbers to create a calmer atmosphere
• Visual supports and clear signage
• Designated quiet spaces for rest and regulation
• Fidget resources available to use
• Optional, open-ended on-gallery activities tailored to suit different needs.

There will also be open-ended, accessible craft and art activities for all abilities and interests in the Learning Studios and workshop.

Venue: Derby Silk Mill, Museum of Making
Time: 10am – 11.30am
Cost: FREE, suggested donation £3 per family.
