World Heritage Sites have an obligation to ensure that their outstanding universal value is being maintained over time and interpreted to the public.  To achieve this, monitoring indicators have been put in place, tailored to the specific values of each World Heritage Site.  All UK World Heritage Sites have been encouraged to base their own key indicators on an extensive list of generic indicators compiled by ICOMOS UK.  The Partnership has selected the indicators relevant to this site and agreed responsibilities for each indicator with key stakeholders.  Included in these indicators is a commitment to conserving and enhancing key views within the World Heritage Site. Annual Reports

 DVMWHS Annual Report 2011 [562 kb] 

One of the key management responsibilities of a World Heritage Site is monitoring the site to ensure that its Outstanding Universal Value is maintained.  UNESCO's Operational Guidelines require the submission of periodic reports to assess the state of conservation of the World Heritage Sites as well as focus future activities and funds.  In order to comply with the guidelines, the production and distribution of an annual monitoring report is identified as an action under objective 26 of the Managment Plan.  This is the eighth annual report undertaken for the DVMWHS and covers the period from April 2010 to end of March 2011.  It includes all the work undertaken by numerous different individuals, groups and organisations within the site to achieve the strategic aims of the Management Plan.  Not included is Appendix 2, the Key Performance Indicators for the World Heritage Site, which can be found above.

DVMWHS Annual Report 2010 
This is the seventh annual report undertaken for the DVMWHS and covers the period from April 2009 to end of March 2010. It has been prepared in liaison with members of the Derwent Valley Mills Partnership. It includes all the work undertaken by numerous different individuals, groups and organisations within the site to achieve the strategic aims of the Management Plan. Not included is Appendix Two, the Key Performance Indicators for the World Heritage Site, which can be found above.
