19/05/2008MARY had a little lamb – and he helped her put on a great night of entertainment as part of National Museum and Galleries Month!
Mary Smedley is manager of Strutt’s North Mill in Belper, who organised with the mill volunteers an evening of music and stories, as well as an official screening of the Wallace and Gromit classic ‘A Close Shave’, starring Shaun the Sheep.
Shaun ‘rather sheepishly’ put in an appearance on the night, as did singer and storyteller Pete Castle and the singing group Rough Truffles.
The mill was packed with visitors for the ‘Night at the Museum’ event, which was part of a national campaign to encourage more people into visiting their local museums.
Said Mary: “It was a lot of fun for all of us, and showed what a variety of entertainment we can put on in the space we have.
“The mill volunteers provided a first-class buffet, and the entertainment was very well received.”
