Guidebook

FOR the very first time, a guidebook has been published to showcase the only World Heritage Site in the East Midlands – Derbyshire’s Derwent Valley Mills.

The A5-sized glossy souvenir booklet is packed with colour photographs of the valley, its mills and communities, backed up with information on the historic importance of the World Heritage Site. It also includes text to help people plan a day out and let them know what they can see and do.

“This is a very useful addition to the publications already produced about the Derwent Valley Mills,” said Councillor Joyce Sanders, who chairs the Partnership which manages the Site.

“It’s very reader-friendly, and will direct people to all the interesting locations we have to offer. I’m sure it will prove as interesting to local people as it will to visitors from further afield.”

The guidebook was officially launched by the Lord Lieutenant of Derbyshire John Bather. It is now available at each of the mill sites, libraries and tourist information centres within the World Heritage Site, and is priced at £4.99. The ISBN number is 978-0-9541940-2-4.
