The trail to highlight heritage
Society Joins the Trail to Highlight Heritage
As part of the on-going 60th anniversary celebrations for Belper Historical Society, an exhibition with talks on Belper and its heritage will be taking place this Sunday, as part of the town’s annual Arts Trail.
From 10am to 4pm, in the Masonic Rooms on Campbell Street, there will old photographs of Belper on display, as well as free talks on the hour by the society’s chairman Mary Smedley and vice-chairman Adrian Farmer.
The scheduled talks are:
10am: Belper – in the beginning
11am: Belper – then and now
12 noon: Belper place names
2pm: Industrial Belper
3pm: Belper’s Victorian Photographers
Refreshments are also available, so the exhibition is an ideal place for a break as you explore the Arts Trail across the town centre.
Mary said: “Belper has such a rich and fascinating heritage – we’re hoping people will join us in celebrating its place in world history, and finding out more about what makes it special.”
The society continues to meet on the first Wednesday of each month at the Strutts Centre on Derby Road. To join the society, or for more information, contact Mary on 01773 822383 or secretary Adrian Keetley at email@example.com.
