LaserLab: An Introduction to Lasercutting

LaserLab is the Museum of Making’s introduction to lasercutting.

Participants are taken through the step by step process of designing and laser cutting their own mobile phone stand.

Based on the free to use ‘Inkscape’ software, this hands-on tutorial runs at an easy pace, gradually building up a familiarity with the toolset and interface. The session is designed to cut through the myriad of Inkscape functions and concentrate on the functionality most often required for designing for the laser.

With ten years of experience using laser cutters, our LaserLab tutor has worked with a wide range of customers to create bespoke designs from simple key rings, to complex models and interactive display pieces. He has extensive experience of working with groups of all ages and abilities.

No previous computer-based design experience is needed, although attendees should be familiar with the use of a computer mouse. All materials and equipment are provided.
