Online Talk
In December it will be 20 years since the Derwent Valley Mills were inscribed on the World Heritage List. Adrian Farmer looks at some of the highs and lows for the World Heritage Coordination Team since that time, explains a little of UNESCO’s expectations, and sets out hopes for the future.
Adrian Farmer has for 17 years been coordinating heritage work for the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. He received the British Empire Medal in 2019 and was Highly Commended in the UK’s first Tourism Superstar Awards in 2012, for his work in this area. He was part of the team that secured for Belper the title Winner of Winners in the inaugural Great British High Street Awards. He has written eight books about Belper and the wider World Heritage Site.
