Ceramics Course: Candlestick Holders

About this course:

Learn how to hand build a traditional candlestick holder out of clay on our ceramics short course. Professional ceramicist Mary Johnson will guide you through the process of measuring, cutting, hand building and decorating your own piece, perfect for your own home or a gift for a loved one.

Once complete, your piece will be dried, glazed and fired by our Workshop Technicians in the Museum of Making kiln, ready for you to collect in a few weeks’ time.

Who is this course for?

This course is suitable for complete beginners, as well as those with some ceramics experience who want to refresh their skills. All levels of experience are welcome! Participants must be aged 18 years and over.

Spaces are limited to 10 participants and priced at £35.00 per person. Derby Museums Friends and Members are eligible for a 10% discount.

Do I need to bring anything?

All materials, tools, equipment and aprons will be provided. However, we encourage you to bring any photos or drawings you would like to use as inspiration.

Please wear comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting a bit dirty and closed-toe shoes.

Lunch is available to purchase from the River Kitchen at the Museum of Making or various eateries and shops in the city centre.

Course booking terms and conditions:

Workshop and course bookings can be cancelled and refunded up until 2 days before the scheduled start date.

*Please note, this event may be subject to change dependent on the latest Government guidance relating to Covid. In the event that Derby Museums needs to cancel a workshop for any reason, your ticket will be refunded in full.
