Make your own spring themed automaton* inspired by the special exhibition Cabaret Mechanical Theatre . In this maker-led workshop you will be guided through the process of making a crank machine, and then use your imagination to bring your machine to life.

Venue: Museum of Making at Derby Silk Mill
Workshop running times:

  • 10:15-11:45am or
  • 1-2.30pm

The workshop will be led by Andy Miller, who is a trained theatre designer and practitioner and currently our Workshop Technician at the Museum of Making. He has over 40 years of industry experience and will guide participants through the processes of constructing these fun and ingenious machines.

Suitable for adults and children aged 7+. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

*An automaton is a moving mechanical device that can utilise different methods of movement.
