Cromford Mills Art  Competition

Artists are invited to spend a day working in the beautiful and atmospheric environment of Cromford Mill.

The event offers the chance to interact with the visitors, build contacts and produce work that may be exhibited in our pop-up gallery.

Prizes, sponsored by Turners Art Supplies will be awarded for the work selected by independent judges.

1st Prize: £100 voucher at Turners Arts Supplies/ Runner up: £50 voucher at Turners Arts Supplies.

Artist may submit one piece of work only, but all types of art are welcome.

All work must be:

  • Produced on-site during the time of the event
  • No larger than A2 (420 x 594mm/16.5 x 23.4 inch)
  • Capable of being wall hung

You must bring all your own materials and equipment, but chairs are available for you to borrow on the day. Drinks will be provided, and volunteers will support you throughout the day.

Choose to work in the historic Mill Yard, across at the Gothic Wharf by the canal or on the river meadows with a view of the water, Willersley Castle and the Church.

You must pre-register your place before 6th May 2022. Please email events@arkwrightsociety.org.uk and provide the following information:

We will confirm whether you have been successful and advise your allocated working location. Please be aware that we may have to limit numbers to avoid overcrowding.

Saturday 7th May 2022

10am – 11am Check in with the team, set up and commence working.

By 4pm Submit your work at the pop-up gallery.

Should you wish to mount or frame your work please bring all necessary materials and equipment.

Artists are welcome to advertise their work for sale. We will put potential buyers in touch with you directly.

The independent judging will take place on Sunday morning with winners announced on our website on Monday 9th May
