Did you know that the Royal Lancers Museum is based in Derby Museum and Art Gallery? Join our curator and volunteers in the Soldiers’ Story Gallery to discover more about the Lancers and their connections with the region. Handle objects from the collections, try on uniforms and kit, and hear inspiring Lancers’ stories with special talks throughout the day: 

Talks 

11am – Private Samuel Higginson, 9th Lancers, served in India during the 1840s to 1860s.
 

11.45am – Troop Sergeant Major John Lakin 16th Light Dragoons, served at Waterloo in 1815
 

12.30pm – Farrier Sergeant Charles Morgan, 17th Lancers, charged with the Light Brigade at Balaclava in 1854.
