Plywood Furniture Course

Join Steve Smith, Pattern Maker and furniture maker by trade and the Museum of Making’s Workshop Supervisor, on this weekend course to make your own small plywood unit.

With the opportunity to customise your design – whether a bookcase, display unit or bedside cabinet – you will be guided through a variety of cabinet making processes and techniques, including routing, domino cutting and sanding.

Throughout the course you will also learn to use a range of tools and machinery, including a CNC machine, and will work with a selection of plywoods and thicknesses.

You will also discover fascinating connections to Derby Museums’ collections of making, which chart the progress of Derby’s ongoing manufacturing history and the people who were involved.

Venue: Museum of Making, Silk Mill Lane, Derby
Time: this is a weekend course running 10am to 4pm on Saturday 27th November and 10am to 3pm on Sunday 28th November
