Virtual Fundraising Auction

Derby Museums is thrilled to be holding its first virtual fundraising auction hosted by auctioneer and TV personality Charles Hanson.

The virtual auction, which will be live-streamed from Hanson’s Auction House, is the first online event of its kind to be run by Derby Museums. It will help to raise vital funds to support Derby Museums’ Endowment: a vital part of the Museums’ strategy to secure its long term sustainability.

Tony Butler, Executive Director of Derby Museums said:  “At this particularly challenging time, we hope that people will support this event by donating prizes and bidding on the night. It will be a fun and entertaining evening with all monies raised matched pound for pound by the National Lottery Heritage Fund to help build our £1m Endowment.”

Derby Museums is one of a small number of heritage organisations to have been awarded a match funded Endowment Grant by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. This means that every pound donated to Derby Museums will be doubled up to a total of £1m, creating a £2m Endowment Fund to help secure the future of Derby Museums for everyone.

A fantastic assortment of donated prizes will be on offer at the auction to excite and entice bidders, ranging from sports memorabilia to vineyard tours and items of porcelain. Auction prizes are still being collected and prize donations are warmly welcomed – interested parties should contact: for more information.

The virtual auction will be live-streamed from Hanson’s Auction House at 7pm on Thursday 11th February. Registration to bid can be found at: where the auction catalogue will go live the week before the event.
